One Pot Orzo Recipe - Easy Meals To Cook

When it comes to choosing the perfect companions for our delightful one pot orzo, we’re spoiled for choice. Picture this: a refreshing arugula salad drizzled with a zesty lemon vinaigrette or some crispy garlic bread that adds just the right crunch.
These sides elevate the meal while keeping everything light and delightful. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not pair it with grilled shrimp or chicken marinated in herbs?
The smoky flavors beautifully complement the creaminess of the orzo. And let’s not forget a chilled glass of white wine. A Sauvignon Blanc, perhaps? It’s like a party in your mouth!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Orzo pasta
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 400 g grape tomatoes, halved
  • 4 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • A handful of fresh basil leaves, shredded
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 and Juice zest of lemon
  • 50 g grated Pecorino Romano
  • 180 g fresh burrata cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

Method

Step 1: Sauté Aromatics
  1. First, grab a large pot or skillet. Heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced garlic and sauté it until golden brown. The aroma will be intoxicating, and your kitchen will feel like a cozy Italian bistro.
Step 2: Add Tomatoes and Orzo
  1. Next, toss in the halved grape tomatoes. Let them cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Their juices will begin to release, mingling beautifully with the garlic. Now, add the orzo to the pot. Stir it well, ensuring each piece gets coated in those lovely flavors.
Step 3: Pour in Broth and Cream
  1. Once the orzo is slightly toasted and aromatic, pour in the low-sodium chicken broth. Follow this with the heavy cream. Bring everything to a gentle simmer and cover the pot. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally to keep the orzo from sticking.
Step 4: Finish Up with Fresh Ingredients
  1. When the orzo is tender and creamy, remove it from the heat. Stir in the shredded basil leaves, balsamic vinegar, and lemon juice and zest. Add salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste—this is your moment to personalize the dish.
Step 5: Serve with Burrata
  1. Finally, fold in the grated Pecorino Romano cheese. Scoop the creamy goodness into bowls and nestle pieces of fresh burrata on top. It’ll melt slightly into the warm orzo, creating a luscious dish that’s hard to resist.
