One Pot Clam Bake Recipe - Easy Meals To Cook

Clams, shrimp, and the comforting warmth of a boil. What could be better?
My first taste of a clam bake was at a beach bonfire on a warm summer night. The sun dipped below the horizon, and we gathered around, laughter mixing with the smell of seafood sizzling in a pot.
The magic of that moment inspired me to recreate this experience at home. Fast forward to today, I present to you the one pot clam bake—a dish that captures both nostalgia and incredible flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups cups dry white wine
  • 1 1/2 pounds pounds baby red potatoes
  • 6 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 6 ears of corn, husked and cut in half
  • 2 large shallots, halved with root ends intact
  • 2 lemons, cut into wedges
  • 5 dozen clams, cleaned and scrubbed
  • 1 pound extra-large shrimp with shells 16 to 20 count
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh oregano leaves, chopped
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar

Method

Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients
  1. Begin by gathering all your ingredients. Clean your clams under cold water. Check if any are open; if they don’t close when you tap them, discard them. Slice the potatoes, corn, and lemons. Smash the garlic cloves, and halving the shallots keeps their flavor intact.
Step 2: Start Cooking the Base
  1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the smashed garlic and shallots. Sauté for about 2–3 minutes until fragrant. You want to release those beautiful flavors without burning them.
Step 3: Add Wine and Potatoes
  1. Pour in the dry white wine and add the baby red potatoes. Bring to a simmer, covering the pot. Cook for about 10–15 minutes. You want the potatoes to soften slightly, yet still hold their shape.
Step 4: Combine Corn and Clams
  1. Next, take your corn halves and place them on top of the potatoes. Now, add the cleaned clams, ensuring they sit snugly. Give it a gentle stir to mix.
Step 5: Introduce the Shrimp
  1. Now, it’s time to add the star—your shrimp! Toss them in, then place the lemon wedges on top. Cover the pot again and steam for about 5–7 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and clams have opened.
Step 6: Finish with Fresh Herbs
  1. Once everything is cooked, sprinkle the parsley and oregano over the top. For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes and a splash of white wine vinegar. Give it a light stir to mix the herbs in, and your dish is ready!

Notes

  • Fresh Ingredients: Fresh seafood makes a world of difference. Visit your local fishmonger if possible.
  • Prep Ahead: Chop vegetables ahead of time. It saves you stress when cooking.
  • Taste the Broth: Always adjust the seasoning before serving. You want the broth to be flavorful.
  • Don’t Overcook: Keep an eye on your clams and shrimp. Overcooking can toughen their texture.
  • Explore Variations: Feel free to add other seafood like mussels or scallops for an even more indulgent dish.
